[He doesn’t want to do this. But it will pull him back to reality and pass the time until whatever is wrong with his memories goes away.]
[Normally B prefers to do this in person, but he actually has no idea where Erskine hangs out, so he resorts to a voice call.]
Hey, Erskine. This is B. Looks like we're gonna be hanging out some for the next few weeks. Thought we might have a chat and get to know each other a bit?
Would you like to meet? Not that I don't enjoy talking over the phone - it gives me a chance to appreciate developments in communication - but meeting in the flesh so to speak can feel a little more personal.
As I have no doubt you have seen, we have been paired.
I was never given a 'temporary' warden but I have read enough and heard enough: would you care to meet and see what we can do for one another or am I merely to provide for requests?
Vincent is not the type of man who calls ahead unless it's important to. Meeting a new inmate? Sometimes. This is not going to be one of those times, by way of a lot of work backlog and the usual 15th of the month notice catching him a bit by surprise. Once he's ascertained his new assignment is somewhere relatively unobtrustive and finishing out his task, he starts heading in the direction of the gazebo.
Sure, Vincent's probably been seen around the barge. A quiet, dour looking man that seems to regard things with a measured indifference. A couple of network moments; straightforward and businesslike. Passing him in a hall and greeting him would get a short nod in return. But pinning him down for conversation, probably not so much. The times he's seen in the dining hall he's usually just passing through and takes whatever meal he's chosen elsewhere. And there's certainly been a lot to keep everyone busy given the events that dragged everyone through their worst traumas.
Anyway, he's been here a few months and recognizable on sight. The sound of armored boots clicking announces his arrival in the gazebo and then, after a glance around, begins to approach Erskine. If the mage is in the process of something, he'll patiently wait, at least for a time. There's time and no reason to interrupt the artistic process.
As well, it's always good to see if he'll be pointedly ignored by his latest pairing. Consider it a way to judge character.
Erskine generally doesn't make an effort to pull someone into a conversation if they don't want it. There are - even on the Barge, which he feels can attract introverts - plenty of people who enjoy talking and he generally works to make those around him more comfortable rather then less.
He's seen Vincent around - he's an observant person, far more so than he can appear - and categorized what he's seen of his behavior and put him under a friendly nod hello at most, though he has a smile for everyone.
He's currently playing around with dots, but even if he was doing something more 'serious', people tend to draw his attention quickly. He grins when he sees who it is. He's not particularly surprised that Vincent had chosen to meet him in person, but you never know.
[The man on the call speaks in a tone that's professional, pleasant, and polite. Nonetheless, his smile is sincere.]
Good evening, Erskine. I'm Dr. Julian Bashir, and it looks like I'll be your warden for this month. I'd like to catch up with you over a cup of tea or coffee, if that's all right?
Hello, Julian. [He grins.] Unless you'd prefer to be called Doctor Bashir. I know a lot of time goes into those titles. I'd love a cup of tea. It goes so well with the snow, don't you think?

Your pardon, Mr Ravel, but may I ask a favour?

Of course - should I call your Mr. Sebastian? [The man is more or less his boss, after all.]

I'd like that. I'll see you soon.

After pairing; audio
I'm sure you heard, but I've been paired with you this month!
I hope we work well together.

[All warm humor.]
I hope for the best. I've been called a relentless optimist, and there's no reason to stop now!
